How to use Bingo Journal Pages to Support Your Creative Life
⠀
Hi Reader,
I been meaning tell you something which I've been doing in my creative journal.
I've turned my to-do list into a bingo card.
Yes, bingo.
You know those old-fashioned bingo cards with the little squares that you mark off?
That's basically what I've been drawing in my journal instead of my to-do lists.
And I'm finding it much more fun than a normal to-do list.
⠀
Lists
You see, I have a bit of a problem with lists.
I make them.
Lots of them.
And then I look at the list and somehow everything on it feels equally important.
Before long I'm staring at a long list of things I want to do and wondering where on earth to start.
⠀
List Gamification
That's when I thought, why not somehow make it a game?
So, I draw a 5 x 5 grid in my journal and fill the squares with things I want to do during the month.
It might be a blog post, a painting, something in the garden, a social event or even something I've been meaning to try for ages.
Then I just pick a square.
There is no starting at the top and working my way down and I can jump around.
And when I've done something, I colour in the square.
There is something surprisingly satisfying about seeing those little coloured squares appear across the page.
⠀
Pace Yourself
I've also discovered that I don't need to fill every square before the month begins.
I actually leave a couple empty because life happens.
Something unexpected might come up, or I might suddenly decide that I'd rather do something completely different to whai I originally thought I'd do.
And that's OK.
In fact, I think that's one of the things I like most about this method of tracking stuff.
It's a guide rather than another list of things I have to accomplish.
⠀
Projects
I've been using my bingo cards for all sorts of things too. Creative projects, wellbeing, social activities and even a little financial goal.
Some things get carried forward to the next month.
Some things get dropped completely.
And occasionally something comes back onto the card because I still really want to do it.
It has become a rather nice little record of what I've been doing with my time.
So, I've written about the whole process and about how you can make your own bingo journal page.

Over to You
And now I'm curious...
Would a bingo card work better for you than a traditional to-do list?
Or would you just end up playing bingo with yourself and ignoring the list altogether?
Do you plan to create a bingo card for your next creative month?
