Your Legacy and What You Leave Behind

Read on the web.

Hi Reader,

Thank you for being here and spending a part of your day with me.

If you are new to Heathcote Living, a warm welcome to you.

I write about creative living, seasonal rhythms, solo life, wellbeing and finding meaning in the everyday.

And if you have been reading along for a while, I truly appreciate your continued support and companionship on the way.

Legacy

What People Remember

When we hear the word legacy, many people think about money, property or just stuff passed down through a will.

I believe that your legacy is often far quieter than that.

Sometimes our legacy is found in the journals we keep, the gardens we tend, the paintings we create, the recipes we write down, or the way we quietly live our everyday lives.

Traces of Things

Over the years, I find myself thinking more about the small traces we leave behind.

Traces almost like hints, smudges or shadows of something that you can't quite put your finger on.

The handmade and handcrafted things.

The thoughtful things said and written.

The personal things which may one day help future generations understand who we were.

Three Women

I've given this all some thought.

This week I want to introduce you to the lives of three inspiring women whose creative and thoughtful lifestyles continue to influence people many years after their deaths: Edith Holden, Tasha Tudor and May Gibbs.

You may have heard of them.

Each woman lived differently, but they all found meaning in simple living, observation, creativity, seasonal living, homemaking and a personal connection to the nature in their area.

Their lives show that ordinary living can still become a lasting legacy.

Your Legacy

In the article, I also explore how your own creative life, home, memories and daily practices may already be shaping the legacy which you will leave behind.

P.S.

Legacy is not always about grand achievements. Sometimes it is the quiet beauty we create and leave behind that speaks the loudest.
